Spring is here! It's time to prepare your lawn for the season. Dun' Dirt Cheap Lawn & Landscape recommends completing the following lawn care and landscaping services to promote healthy, green grass and beautiful landscape.

1. Clean out your flower beds of weeds and unwanted growth. This provides the existing plants with more room to flourish by improving access to nutrients in the soil and water.

2. Plant only flowers, trees, shrubs and other landscape ideas that are appropriate for spring in your garden. Some bulbs and certain plants should only be planted in fall.

3. Trim and prune trees, shrubs. Dangling limbs can be hazardous and cause injury. Pruning shrubs and trees allows the plants to focus their growth on the healthiest portions instead of wasting valuable energy, nutrients and water on the overgrown or dead portions.

4. Leaf removal. Removing leaves, limbs and other yard debris promotes healthy grass growth. Any part of your grass that is covered with debris will likely become yellowed and eventually die off causing bare spots. These bare spots will need to be over seeded with grass seed or sod installation will need to be provided to make your yard lush and full again.

5. Treat your grass for weeds. Lawn weeds can take over the healthy grass in your yard. They are not only unsightly but they are difficult to mow and prevent lawns from growing.

6. Develop a lawn fertilizing and sprinkler system watering schedule. Lawn fertilization and regular watering will help the grass in your yard stay green, healthy as well as help promote grass growth in any bare areas.
